I downloaded Photoshop Elements 5.0 with my new Tablet but I can only use hues of Pink? How do I cha

Ok so I just got my new Intuos 3 tablet and I opened up Photoshop Elements 5.0 that came with it after I downloaded and restarted my computer.

I open with a White background for a blank file to start drawing and its all Pink!

I've tried going threw and using a transparent background and puting in #FFFF for the color but it only goes to pink.

How do I set it back to white?

Are you trying to achieve a "multiple exposure" look? Where the subject moves, and you have two images of them?

Can be done in Photoshop, lots of ways. In the best case, you've got your camera locked down on a tripod-- so it doesn't move. You're going to have to select, copy and paste the subject in each frame down into one frame, as in the image that's linked here. No real "trick" to it-- just the sometimes tedious work of creating a selection (it helps a lot if your subject is contrasty to the background)

this is sometimes called a "chronophotographic study" and the technique was invented by Edward Muybridge.

The previous answer has it right. For me the video was hard to follow (and see, at my screen resolution). Here's some more details that might help.

Bigger round corners:

1. Make a new layer.

2. Choose the Rounded Rectangle Tool (press U).

3. Pick the icon you want in the upper toolbar: Shape Layers, Paths, or Fill Pixels.

4. Set the desired radius in the upper toolbar.

5. Mouse the size of rounded rectangle you want in your image.

Levels:

Layer/New Adjustment Layer/Levels/OK. Then move the middle slider in the Levels palette.

I use 5.0. I have never had that problem, so I don't have a great answer. I know that this is a brand new program, which means that you just installed it. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. It's a pain in the butt, I know, but if you ask Adobe for help, this is the first thing they will tell you so you may as well get it out of the way. If you still have trouble, go to http://www.adobe.com/support/ and ask for help. The knowledgebase has ten entries for trouble with text. It might also still be a P.E. vs. Vista problem, if you are running Vista.

Sometimes I have that problem if the project I want to print is still in Layers. Try saving it in layers as a Photoshop document, then try the command FLATTEN IMAGE (from the Image dropdown menu), then save as a jpeg.

Try printing the jpeg.

Each publication will have their own custom specs (technical specifications) for how each item should be set up... dimensions, resolution, contrast levels, etc. Also, some things will depend on if you are designing in color or black and white, and what kind of press technology they are using.

But I think that Photoshop is now becoming necessary. People no longer want photographs with natural flaws, only newspapers want original pictures, but most buyers will like for a photograph that has a punch of interest and that can easily be done in Photoshop. It is true that if you have a great photograph then you might think that nothing else can be done to make it better but once you discover Photoshop and all the effects you can do you will always discover some effect that will make your photo just a little better. It also depends if you are freelance or working for a company. If you are freelance you probably just get away without using Photoshop but if you work for someone they might want you to retouch something about the picture with Photoshop.

That picture was done with Photoshop. You might be able to create something similar but not as powerful if you really look into the settings on your camera. Play around with the shutter, tonnes, and other features that your camera has built in.

Are you sure those brushes are for Photoshop? Because I think .PspScript is a format for Paint Shop Pro scripts. No wait, I'm definitely sure that is a Paint Shop Pro format.

If you're looking for Photoshop brushes, make sure they're in .abr format.

As for installing these brushes, save the .abr files in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 7\Presets\Brushes folder. Then run Photoshop, select the brush tool, and in the brush settings toolbar click the small arrow and select 'Load Brush'.

I had Photoshop CS3 installed on my PC for some time and something happened with my PC (my PC fell and the HD (among other things) dropped out of it) so it had to be fixed (PC) and when I got it back the ppl there said that the HD is working (but it would be smart to back it up) and everything was working fine until I tried to open Photoshop and I noticed that by some miracle it isn't installed!!! 1. Select the Shape Tool (e.g, Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle,Ellipse, etc.) you want from the Toolbox (right side, third from the bottom.)

2. In the Options Palette at the top of the screen, select the "path" option (it's the one in the middle, with a little pen superimposed over the box).

3. Click and drag to draw your shape.

4. Make sure the Paths palette is showing. The shape you just drew should be selected as the Work Path.

5. From the little pop-up menu to the right of the Paths palette, click "Stroke Path..." You have the choice of outlining your path in whatever brush is active, with the single-pixel pencil, or other options.

6. Once you have the result you like, you can delete the path to eliminate the annoying stripe down the middle of your shape.

Photoshop has a built in feature for this. Its called "rounded rectangle" althought the button may not be shown by default on the tool bar. You may need to click and drag the mouse to the right when you click on the "rectangle tool".
given that you are a noob, i wouldn't bother with shapes, you wont know how to manipulate them, etc. my suggestion is this: use the circular marque tool (under the selection tool, upper left hand corner of the toolbar) and draw your oval. then you can fill it or put a stroke (line) around it to make it to however your little heart desires.

the shape tool is good but it sounds more complicated than you need.

your computer has something called the registry. when you install a program this place stores all the information on your computer about the program. your cd key, the location of files and other things. that's why you need to install a program and not just copy all the files into a folder and have the program function correctly.

it may be that you somehow have some information missing like your name and cd key and stuff.

if you go into start%26gt;run and type regedit this will open your registry. any changes you make here can ruin your programs in the same way your photoshop is ruined so don't change anything you don't know what it is.

if you look through it you'll find some photoshop folder. in there you might find a cd key area or a name and organization area like you always need to fill when you install it. if you see that these are empty, then filling them might solve your problem.

sorry i can't give you more precise directions into your registry but i'm not on my computer right now and can't look through it to help you out.

Your computer will govern what Photoshop you can buy, look at the system requirements to make sure your computer meets them, it makes sense in the ling run to buy the latest version that suits it.

If you just want to draw pictures you might find Corel Painter to your tastes, it does have some great drawing features that are less developed in Photoshop which is more geared toward photographic retouching.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 is great. They've enhanced a lot of aspects of this program since CS and it really helps improve the flow of your work.

Also, are you in school? You can get the programs for way cheaper that way through a student discount. It usually will come out to be about $600 for the whole suite that includes Illustrator, InDesign AND Photoshop plus more programs.
i have the adobe premium suite wich has photoshop cs3 in it its more than photoshop cs2 but the only difference is were the tools are located you just have to find them and other than that its the same so you could go with the less expensive version cause its 99 percent the same as the newer one i have it works just as well and cost like alot less

i dont know how much the new photoshop (cs3) is by itself sincei got hte suite which has cs3 photoshop, illistrator, indesign, flash and dreamweaver but i got that package for 600 dollars so the last version of photoshop(cs2) cant be much and you say the new photoshop is around a thousand dollars because at stores like mac outfitters and such sell it for much more than it should be go to a college bookstore or somewhere like that and its at least 300-400 dollars cheaper thats how i got mine

you didn't explain how it doesn't work so it is hard for other people to figure out your problem. Is it that your font size is set too small or too big ( or the gap / leading etc) and u can't see the text you typed? Or is it that your OS is set to a foreign language selection ( like eastern language ) that photoshop doesn't accept and therefore cannot type?

Try to browse through some online photoshop tutorials for type tool, google search it and you will get a list to read. But if in the end you still can't find a solution to your problem and it seems that it is Photoshop itself then maybe your copy of Photoshop is corrupted and you will have to get a new good copy.

The directory (folder) is probably:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Right click the start menu, click Explore, find your C drive, click that, find Program Files, find Adobe, and then find the folder for Photoshop. Drag it into that folder.

I think they mean the folder you have the photoshop program installed in, look for it under program files it should be there. whatever folder your photoshop is in, copy the upgrade into it and the double click it to run it.

Select the photo(s) that you want to e-mail, if there are more than one you will have to do this individually, right click, go to properties, and simply edit the properties to make the object a jpeg image. Additionally, you might want to adjust the pixel rate on the photos. It will take away from the quality, but it will make it more computer friendly (do this only if the other person is NOT going to print the received photos).

Another way you can do it is to open the photos, left click file, select save as, and choose to save them as jpegs that way.

I use a MacPro Quad 2.66Mhz pumped up to 9GB of RAM. In Photoshop CS3 it only shows that I have 3GB to use. Yes you can make images for buttons in photoshop and you can make button up and over images in photoshop. You can make any images you want. Dreamweaver gives them the characteristics to WORK like buttons.

In photoshop use rounded rectangles to make the button itself.

Type text on it.

Give it effects like bevel and a drop shadow to make it look good.

If you want a horizontal nav bar combine all the buttons together in a single doc (side by side). When you are done you can save it for web. Probally should go with a gif. file.

The file has to be in your root folder for dreamweaver.

Open your page put the gif in it and then you start puuting the functions to the nav bar. There is a nav bar option in the top menu. If you want to bring in one button at a time I find it easy to just click the button highliting it in DW then you want to go to the crosshairs at the bottom and drag to the page you want to link it to, thus creating a link from the button. If its a huge site using many many pages look up CSS otherwise good luck.

if you have a tablet, I highly reccommend getting OpenCanvas1.1

it doesn't do high resolution or anything, but it is freeware, and less than a meg to download, and just plain awesome.

It's also got a feature where you can network with other users and draw on the same image simultaneously over the 'net.

Also, you can save your work as a .wpe file and when you load it back up, it'll play your drawing from start to finish, step by step like a movie. You can download .wpe files by other artists as well for your viewing pleasure... a most excellent way to learn.

Anyhow, if you don't have a tablet, photoshop is best, though GIMP should suffice if you can't get a copy of that.

If you're so inclined as to purchase a wacom tablet however, they do come with a copy of Painter Classic, which would work for what you're wanting to do. I think they might come with a copy of Photoshop Elements as well.

1. Go to your preferences... (Ctrl+K or Command+K depending whether PC or Mac.)

2. Under the General Tab (should be the default that shows up), right under Color Picker it should have a drop down that says Image Interpolation. Change that to Nearest Neighbor (preserve hard edges).

Unfortunately there isn't. You can enlarge an image only up to a point before the pixelation is noticeable. With an image that's 10x10, there's very little detail in it to begin with so there's not too much room to enlarge it. If it's a relatively basic image, you can enlarge it, create another layer, and then try your best to trace over it and recreate the image.

Do you mean a background layer or just a background in any ol' picture that in one layer?

To change a background in any ol' picture, you can fill in the parts you don't want a solid color like black. That way you can to an invert selection on the object you want or make the now black baground transparent. I use a wacom pen for all that type of stuff, would be hard with a mouse.

The latest versions are shown at the Corel website ( I guess they bought Jasc) and show prices less than $100 for suites.

Best thing would be to get a few books or do a graphic design course as there is a HUGE amount to be learnt in Photoshop.

Meaning when you install it, the installation will automatically "tag" a key to a hidden file on that OS somewhere for whatever reason. right click on your first layer. you cannot place anything under the background layer.

do the cutout on the duplicate.

past your background on the fist layer

flatten your layers (layer menu) if you want to save it as jpg or png format.

I would like to import the website into imageready since it looks like the original may have been done with photoshop/imageready. Is there a way to take an existing website, import it into imageready, code and all, so that I can change the images into English via Photoshop and keep the code the same or closely similar? Imageready can make a dynamic website, but can it take a premade dynamic website and edit it?

Powerpoint has not default size as far as I know. most people have a 1024x768 Screen Resolution, which is what you see when you make powerpoint slides and play them on your home computer...

I would say you cant go wrong making the images 1024x768 and then importing to powerpoint.

You can go to VIEW and see if there is something there that is checked that shouldnt be. Play around with it a little. If the grid is on the sides of an image it might be the rulers.

Ok, can someone help me in using Adobe Illustrator in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop?

Basically, I'm learning Adobe Illustrator finally. I want to be able to draw the stuff with Illustrator, and then export it to Photoshop. This brings up multiple questions, you can answer some of them, or all of them.

You can use both of them but in different cases.

Usually I use Illustrator when I need something to print. Because Illustrator works with vector graphics and it's easily scalable. You can make artwork bigger or smaller without any loosing in details.

Photoshop works better with pixel graphics. And I use it when do some works for web. Also for printing if I know final size and resolution (dpi).

And yes, you can freely open ai, eps, psd files with both of them.

You probably want to use the Brush Tool to get something similar to your example. With the many possible brushes (click the small triangle to the right of Brush in the top tool bar to see all of the default brushes) you can create just about any brush stroke.

The Pen Tool creates vector lines (mathematically defined lines) instead of pixels and those lines are easily scaled from one document size to another. The Pen Tool isn't easy to use for freehand sketches and/or scribbles.

If that photo is photoshoped its a good fake, because I opened it in CS3 and looked at it and there are no seams or anything to suggest that it has been changed.

Yoy would get the same results using and bitmap converted to a png.

I just did a auto adjust on the contrast and it got 100% clearer wich means it is not a PS pic.

Here is 2 things you may want to do. When you re due the Image size also change the resolution. If you are just putting them on the net to share re due the Res to 72. and image size around 640 x 480 see if that helps you out
After you are done with image and have saved it as a jpeg or whatever, you can also easily shrink it with an image resizer Powertoy downloadable from Microsoft. Photoshop is still better, but if you don't know how to read the resolutions, you can use this nifty tool.

Black prints as gray from Photoshop CS3 or Acrobat Pro?

I'm working on a Macbook with Leopard, using CS3. I recently started using a HP Officejet Pro K8600 printer (inkjet, CMYK cartridges). My problem is that when printing out of Photoshop and Acrobat, any black items are outputting as gray- I'm assuming that the printer is creating a composite black out of the color inks instead of using the black ink cartridge (?). This is not a problem when printing out of Illustrator (blacks look great). Any ideas?

I have tried running Photoshop in Rosetta mode, deleting the Preferences file, and several different print and Photoshop dialogue settings. Photoshop, Acrobat and the printer driver are all updated. I'm running out of options and Adobe technical support had no solution either. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am only guessing since I'm new to MAC Leopard. I have a sneaking suspicion that your thought about Photoshop and Acrobat creating composite black, instead of using the actual black, could be true. It seems to me that I saw some printers that don't use the same black cartridge for both text and photo (which is aggravating). My guess is that with that printer, there may be some photo specific cartridge that it may want you to switch to when printing pictures. It's some weird way that the printer and computer work together. Maybe someone else reading this could elaborate more on this or perhaps has another idea.

Every new camera's RAW format needs the newest software to be read correctly. Neither CS2 or Elements are new enough. CS3 may not even read D300 RAW (NEF) files yet. Use eith er Nikon Capture NX (should have been included) or wait til a CS3 plug in as been created.
You need to go to the Adobe website and update elements software for the NIkon NEF formatted photos.

Try using Adobe lightroom for reading your raw files.. it's so much better.

Use your file manager and your computer skills to copy the images to you computer to the file folder you name for each photo shoot.

You will have to download the latest RAW converters from Adobe for Photoshop to "see" your NEF files.

You didn't define "Photoshop".

Almost all photographers will Image%26gt;Adjust%26gt;Curves (or the equivalent) and often crop the photo. Yes, of course this was done.

Some photographers will apply a brushstroke/distort/sketch filter that make it look like it was drawn by hand, or like you're looking through glass. But this will never result in someone having three arms, or a friend being removed from the photo. One of these filters were probably used here, though it's hard to be sure because the most obvious issues in the photo probably came from the image being scanned in from a magazine.

What many people casually mean by "photoshop" is the addition or removal of arms/people/etc. Do you suspect that was done here? What part of the image do you suspect this was done on? The image is of low enough quality that it's difficult to analyze every part of the photo for these sorts of modifications.

You might be doing the gradient thing right, but have you tried lowering the opacity and/or the fill of the layer? Lowering the opacity and/or fill level usually makes that layer sort of 'see-through' depending on how low you set it.

This is an easy one. Open your picture/graphic in Photoshop, Create a "Layer via copy". Now create another layer over the picture and make a selection that is at least as big as your graphic. With the Gradient tool, create a gradient in this selection. Now just adjust the opacity of the gradient to your liking. When finished, flatten the image. That should do it.

You could just put them inside the Font folder. Assuming you use Windows, you should go to the Control Panel %26gt; Fonts and paste all the single fonts you wish inside it (no the folders!).

Or you could use another software to manage fonts, like Bitstream Font Navigator, and install them from this program.

Photoshop will just assume all the fonts you have installed in your system automatically.

Not an easy answer, i fail to see how one could have a problem doing such an easy task? if you are, then perhaps you should FLATTEN LAYERS, this would be the only real problem that may prevent you from editing from the outset.

Changing from colour to black and white you can do one of two things. hit the DE-SATURATE button, this will change your image into gray scale, that's a varying degree from black to white. or change your COLOUR MODE to just 2 colours.

The smudge tool its great for removing pimples as it works like a painting and takes the colour from around the pimple and rubs it into wherever you move the mouse.

Use the magic wand or lasoo tool to select the eyes and go into edit colour and saturation, just play with the setting there.

When you select any tool, a sub-menu should display according to that tool, so adjust those too and try it. Use your undo command or revert in the file menue, think 5 has it? Do remember to save regular and don't try to do things from a distance. ZOOM in to the area to be edited, you will have much more flexibility.

You can use Microsoft Paint, which comes with Windows, to do some modifications. It is not as powerful as Photoshop, which is a professional program. There are other programs in between but you probably already have Paint and don't need to install anything.
